Growing up in Brooklyn, our kitchen was a delicious melting pot of my mother's native southern cooking and the rich flavors she picked up from our Caribbean and Latin American neighbors. As I got older and started learning more about natural foods, I realized that few brands were serving the vibrant and rapidly growing Black and Latino communities that I cared about so deeply. I started A Dozen Cousins so that it would be possible to enjoy our traditional foods without compromising taste, health, and convenience. The brand is named after my daughter and her 11 cousins and it celebrates all the great family dinners we enjoy together. Also, it's fun to say :) - Ibraheem Basir
